Beauty is balance and truly healthy skin is both hydrated and moisturised ~ we use unique blends of the most magical oils to prevent water loss and protect your skin from the elements.
Argan oil is one of the moisturising stars of our collection ~ at home in the inhospitable deserts of Morocco, it is borne of the argan tree ~ Argania Spinosa. A sweet reminder of nature’s abundant offering.
Crafted from rare kernels, this elixir has nurtured the skin and souls of Moroccans for centuries. While western skincare has only just begun to harness its power, ramble the bustling alleyways of Morocco and this sweet nut will also captivate you with the scents and tastes of native cuisine.
Rich in Vitamin E, fatty acids and so much more, uncover the secrets of this magical ingredient…
The benefits of argan oil
Found on the outskirts of the Sahara desert, the argan tree remains lush and verdant despite the heat and dryness of its surroundings. This is the wisdom Argania Spinosa holds in its roots. And so, we may be surprised that its benefits are so plentiful…
1. Argan Oil moisturises
Vitamin E, alongside the omega-rich fatty acids that are so ample in Argan Oil, are incredibly moisturising for your skin. Fatty acids support the health of your skin barrier, ensuring skin is hydrated, plump and bright. Linoleic acid, specifically, supports the ceramides that are key to skin moisture.
2. Argan Oil reduces breakouts
Although it may, at first, seem counterintuitive to apply oil for acne, this non-comedogenic ingredient helps regulate your skin’s sebum production. Skin that is no longer over-producing sebum will often see a reduction in breakouts and acne.
3. Argan Oil protects from both environmental and sun damage
Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E, which is nectar for the skin.
This antioxidant protects your skin from the damage of environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution. Studies are also investigating Vitamin E’s ability to absorb UVB rays. Of course, we always recommend wearing a high SPF during the day for complete protection.
4. Argan Oil prevents and reduces signs of ageing
With antioxidant Vitamin E protecting skin from oxidative stress and fatty acids supporting skin elasticity, Argan Oil is adored for its ability to maintain a youthful complexion. Also found in Argan Oil are carotenes ~ converted into Vitamin A by your body, this will boost skin cell turnover, firming the skin and minimising wrinkles over time.
5. Argan Oil soothes inflammation
Naturally cooling, Argan Oil, with its potent antioxidant properties, soothes inflammation in or on the skin. Particularly anti-inflammatory is oleic acid, one of the fatty acids present in Argan Oil. This can help calm the skin for those with conditions like eczema, rosacea and psoriasis.
6. Argan Oil supports absorption of other ingredients
Oleic acid, Argan Oil’s most predominant fatty acid, increases skin permeability so that other ingredients may be better absorbed.
7. Argan Oil repairs and firms skin
While incredibly restorative for your face, the value of Argan Oil for your body should not be overlooked.
Moroccans have been reaping the benefits of Argan Oil on their skin for centuries, if not longer. Vitamin E and fatty acids firm your skin, and research has shown that Vitamin E can help skin repair quicker, healing scars and minimising stretch marks. That’s part of what makes our luxurious body lotion ~ la lotion infinie, so powerful.
How to use Argan Oil for your face
Prepare in the palm of your hand, naturally warming just one or two drops of Argan Oil, before gently patting onto your face or massaging in circular motions. You can also add a few drops to your favourite moisturiser. We love using it as part of both our day and night skincare routines.
A collection to nourish
Supporting the efficacy of Argan Oil by knowing what to pair it with is key. We love to combine the restorative power of Argan Oil with Abyssinian Oil and Kukui Nut Oil to create a nourishing, nutrient-rich tincture. Our dry face oil, l’étoile infinie, is the balanced blend of these 100% natural ingredients, creating radiant and supple skin.
Abyssinian Oil intensely hydrates the skin, and works with Argan Oil to replenish and protect your skin barrier. Kukui Nut Oil, bursting with Vitamins A, C and E, defends your skin from oxidative stress and supports Argan Oil’s efforts to reduce inflammation.
Argan Oil can also be found in our award-winning day and night silver cream ~ la potion infinie. It works in perfect balance with sweet Almond Oil — rich in Vitamin E — for a deeply moisturising effect in the morning and at night.
We firmly believe the skin on your body should receive the same love and care as the skin on your face. Our hydrating silver body lotion blends Shea Butter with Argan Oil to leave skin soft and delicately scented.
While the two may seem synonymous, moisturising and hydrating relate to two different skin concerns. Hydrating the skin means improving its water content ~ attracting more water to the space within skin cells. To moisturise the skin is to create a barrier between it and the environment. This prevents water from escaping and helps protect your skin from environmental stressors that may dry it out. It’s important to bring both into your routine for healthy, glowing skin.
Always from natural origins, we’re committed to sourcing only the finest ingredients ~ organic wherever possible. We’re also proud to be a Positive Luxury brand, certified with the Butterfly Mark, which is an independent verification of the highest sustainability standards.
